Terry Brooks is the best
I had this book in the 70s, but loaned it to a friend who lost it. I found this on ebay and it was the first printing. I reread this book and it still captivated me. I have the entire Shannara series and am in the process of reading all of them again. If you've read other Terry Brooks books, you will love the Shannara series.

My most favorite book of all time!
I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings long before I read The Sword of Shannara. I love The Sword and I've read the rest of the books in the series. However, none of them compare to the first in this series. It is wonderful and a lot easier for some people to stick with than the typical Tolkien books.
