Fond memories of a delightful talent.
I first saw Maura in the 80s at some weekend music fests of those days It was a real treat to hear her live performance. Many of the songs I rememberer her doing are on this recording. Listening to this CD takes me back to those days sitting on the lawn along the Ohio river with my family hearing some great music. Helpless Heart is probably my favorite from her for the reasons mentioned above. The recent purchase of her cds is fresh and enjoyable as when I first heard her. I hope she is doing well. good title for songs covered
Maura's voice is wonderful and has mellowed slightly with age. This is an old CD but well worth the hunt and even more worth the listen. Maura O'Connell is renowned for her sort of "American Country" take on songs that tell an American tale but also an Irish tale. It is so clear that Maura sings for the joy of it and to her mind, the more the merrier! She is not into one-up-man-ship, she's there for the music! That is what makes her an incredible entertainer and a wonderful voice.
