    Action packed challenge

Mega Man 1 is a must-have for any NES collector. The game is a total blast and it very challenging. You make your way through six bosses then unlock the evil Dr. Wily final boss. This is the very first game in the series so I recommend starting with this game if you don't own any Mega Man games.

  • Beginning of the saga

My first foray into the Mega Man Series was with Mega Man 2. I was immediately impressed with the colorful worlds and excellent sound track. Since MM2 piqued my interest, I immediately began to search for the original. This was 1990 and I didn't have the luxury of having the internet to find older games. Luckily, I was able to find a new copy at a toy store. Compared to MM2, MM is a little rough around the edges, but it set many of the conventions for the series. MM graphics are not as impressive as MM2, but sequels are supposed to improve on the original. But compared to other games released around the same time as MM, MM is very impressive with how colorful and detailed the worlds are. The music is just as impressive, but not as memorable as MM2. My favorite tunes are on Bombman ...

  • The Game That Started It All

It is not often that a great gem like Mega Man is released. It is the very first Mega Man game ever made, and the game that started an explosively popular video game franchise loved by gamers worldwide. In this game, you play the role of Mega Man, and you must fight your way through 6 different stages to defeat 8 different Robot Masters that have been programmed for evil by the mad scientist Dr. Wily. After defeating the 6 Robot Masters, you must fight through 4 more stages at Dr. Wily's lair, and eventually fight Dr. Wily himself to finish the game. This is the only Mega Man game that does not feature a password screen, and also the only Mega Man game to keep score. The game may seem slightly simplistic compared to the other 5 NES Mega Man games, but by no means does that mean this ...

  • Old School NES

The original Mega Man-classic, challenging, and fun. I think this is a great game from the 80's. It had a cult following as evidenced by the number of sequels that followed. It's fun and had incredibly good graphics and music for the era and system it was designed for. Some NES games have annoying and downright terrible music scores, but this game took advantage of every bit of usable technology for the NES in that regard. Though the sequels that came out later seemed to have slightly more color and better graphics, this game was EXTREMELY impressive for 1987. Capcom even stated on the box: "State-of-the-Art" and "High Resolution Graphics". The only complaint I might have about it, and it's a minor one, is that this is the hardest Mega Man game out of the 6 made for the original NES. It ...

  • The first of the Blue Bomber's adventures.

Mega Man (known as Rockman in Japan) was released in America by Capcom in 1988 -the first of six installments released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You play the role of the eponymous robot, Mega Man, who is on a mission to stop Dr. Wily's global conquest. To reach Wily, Mega Man must fight through six of the evil doctor's master robots. Being the first in the series, it missed out on a lot of the later games' innovation, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. If you can get past the occasional cheap death from being knock off a ledge and into a bottomless pit or spike bed, you have a very solid and enjoyable arcade-style platformer for the NES. An excellent addition to any retro gamer's collection.
