I have several items about The Secret Garden book written in 1911 by Frances Hodgson Burnett that I use in my college classroom. When I saw Amy Cotler's cookbook, I was curious. The buy proved to be a wonderful compliment to the original book. This cookbook follows the original story by giving recipes that might have been used to fix the food mentioned in the book. Chapters are Yorkshire Breakfasts, A Manor Lunch, An English Tea, The Kitchen Garden, Dickon's Cottage Food, A Taste of India and Garden Picnics. Sprinkled through the cookbook are interesting facts of Yorkshire life, quotes from The Secret Garden and menus. I am very happy to have this book, with or without The Secret Garden.
