    Great product in my opinion and will purchase more as I continue to upgrade

    Good product as expected from Directv. This was an upgrade to an older Panasonic receiver which was slow and hard to navigate. The newer Directv receivers are easy to run and very user friendly. The only problem is that when I called to activate the receiver the Directv associates didnt really know the correct settings that were required for my installation. This was not a big deal because I do my own installs but to someone not familiar with satellite systems this might pose a problem. A service call would probably be necessary. Overall great product, great picture with ease of use.

    Don't buy leased receivers unless U R buying them for parts or boat anchors

    You damn well better know what you're doing when you buy one of these used receivers.Used to be all you had to do was buy a new access card and you could have a used receiver activated on your account.That is no longer the case and I found it out the hard way.I have bought new access cards for used receivers and had them activated in the past so I ignored the "Call directv and make sure these can be activated on your account" messages and bought FOUR USED RECEIVERS!!!!!They are useless to me and I am out a few hundred bucks.Needless to say I am not a happy fellow right now,since I was trying to save money by buying the used stuff in the first place.Don't let what happened to me happen to you.Your friend,,,"Stupid"

    Best Thing Since Sliced Bread!!!

    Awesome DVR Receiver. Best one I have owned so far. Has the fastest channel changing I have seen to date. This model, the HR24-500 has a built-in cooling fan and 2 audio outputs (Coaxial & Optical). The cooling fan is wisper quiet. I couldn't be happier. Be prepared to enter into a 2 year lease period after purchasing one. If you want one of these then don't order it from Directv. They can't promise you which one you will get. Directv will send you a used refurbished DVR of their choosing.

    Lease verses purchased

    If you purchase a leased unit be aware that it can not be transferred to someone else. Hence even though you purchase it from a price party, it can’t be registered and activated according to my direct tv experience with this formally leased unit .
