  • Compelling tale of intrigue

I read the book first and then listened to it on audio book CD. Swanson presents a very fascinating story on the Lincoln assasination conspiracy, focusing on days immediately after the dreadful deed. The only thing that prevents me from giving this review an excellent rating is my belief that sometimes Swanson takes a little too much "literary license" regarding actions and conversations that took place between the central characters involved. How could Swanson possibly know precisely what was said and in what context at certain times but yet he presents it as the factual truth. It makes for fine reading but the reader must decide for himself how much credibility to give Swanson's reporting. That being said, the audio book is still a delight to listen to; I enjoyed it more than ...

  • This was researched thoroughly and well written.

I purchased this for my legally blind son who enjoyed the audio version very much. He said it was well narrated and easy to use. If it made him happy, I'm happy. He loves history and found the book informative and factual. This tells me the author did his research.

  • The hunt for the killer of Abraham Lincoln.

Being a Civil War buff, I read anything that took place during those trying times. The author of Manhunt, James L. Swanson, is a leading authority on the life of Abraham Lincoln. The book is very thorough about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth. At the time of the assassination it is like you were sitting in the theater box with Lincoln. It also gives the story of all the other conspirators. I highly recommend this book.
