About this product

Product Information

The second North American PS2 game based on the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series, Curse of the Crimson Elixir follows an original storyline designed to complement the television adventures of the two young Elric brothers. Edward is a precocious, maimed alchemist, and Alphonse's human soul resides in the shell of a hulking mechanical man. As in Square-Enix's earlier Broken Angel, this game features cel-shaded graphics and 3D platform-style combat, for which players can use Edward's powers of transmutation to create new, effective weaponry. The boys have been sent to Siam-Sid, in the ruins of the capital city of Lebis, where they must investigate disturbing stories about disappearing people and strange monsters. Throughout the adventure, players take the role of Edward, who is supported in combat and exploration by the computer-controlled Alphonse. Several other major and minor Fullmetal Alchemist characters appear in the game, all voiced by the actors who portray them in the television series.

  • PS3 video game

Got it for my son as a Christmas gift. Don't know much about computer gaming myself... My boys, twins, like these sorts of games and the characters in this particular one, "Fullmetal Alchemist 2," seem to be the flavor of the day. Although it has not been played to date as it's wrapped up in Christmas package wrap, I'm sure it will be met with excitement and anticipation to play. The one boy even went Halloweening as the primary character of this video game series, this year. So, I cannot tell you whether I like it or dislike it since I personally do not have the time nor inclination to get into video gaming. I bought it because one twin wanted to gift if for the holidays to the other.

  • Transmuting a sequel

This follow up to the first Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty good. mechanics improved quite a bit with the combo's, the new feature of semi-controling his brother is a great addition and the cut scenes are great. Spaces for improvement though; combos COULD be a little more flexible, could also have the bonus feature of letting you choose/switch between characters or an alternative story line/point of view, and the game could have extended a little longer. Hardcore gamers, take it easy when becoming "dedicated" to trying to beat the game, it's a little more short-winded than you may first perceive lol But overall, game was excellent, hoping for a better followup as well

  • Excellent Follow up To Broken Angel

If you're a fan of the FMA anime, this game is the perfect follow up to Broken Angel. Most aspects of game play are greatly improved. Ed's moves are slicker, his open handed fighting is a lot cooler, and more in character, since he doesn't just automatically have his automail transmuted all the time. Al's AI is much improved too. He seems to have learned how to run around things that are in his way for the most part. Another nice addition is the voice acting in the spoken parts of the story, not just in the FMVs (which are also somewhat improved in this game btw.) I give the game a 4 out of 5 only because it's really largely a fan service game. I loved it. I'm a fan... I think if I had come into it cold with no knowledge of the series, I might have found it a bit confusing at first ...

  • Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir

I received the game fast and it was well worth the money. Plain and simple excellent service. The game is like a simpler and shorter Kingdom Hearts (a 10/10 game)except instead of Donald and Goofy as your teammates you have a huge empty metal suit of armor that kicks ass! To top that off you can turn transmute objects in to sweet apparatus' that help you fight enemys. You can even pull a few weapons out of the ground to use anytime. Even though the game is incredibly short, you can still replay it with everything you unlocked in the previous playthough. I'd say 8/10 for the game.

  • Great Game!

The game is good for gamers who are tolerant about the game's flaws. It has really anoying loading times between areas, but the graphics are well developed. The gameplay is also excellent in comparison to the anime series. For any fan of FMA it is perfect, but if you're not a fan, the games story wont catch you in the beginning, only after a couple of hours will you be drawn in to play it. Other than that, the game is pretty good.
