Wow! Where do I start? First of all, it must be pointed out, that not since Mercyful Fate coming out of the ashes of Scandinavia in 1980 has another band exploded out of that region and exemplify the true and brilliant talent needed to impact Power Metal until these boys from Sweden put their mark in the entire European continent. This band is all-around outstanding! And to think that these guys first started as an experiment to hopefully win a battle of the bands contest. In 1996 HammeFall, founded by guitarist Oscar Dronjak, and only a few cover songs under their belt, did impress judges and perform in the semi-finals of the very prestigious ROCKSLAGET Swedish Local Music Contest . The boys never qualified for the finals but felt they had something to prove to the metal ... Wow! Where do I start? And that my friends is a whole nother review for another time. The sessions for "Legacy Of Kings" began in the fall of 1998. The pressure of knowing and understanding that "Glory To The Brave" was in fact a solid first effort that was praised throughout the Heavy Metal industry. And, to follow this first recording would prove to be a difficult task. HammerFall released "Legacy Of Kings" with no apprehensions whatsoever. My God! These dudes come out of the gates with their first track "Heeding The Call" which in fact turns out to be an amazing introduction and killer preview of what is sure to come in the later tracks. This music is fast and furious...It will pound you in the face hardcore, and it will never stop. The guitar work throughout this whole disc is nothing short of exceptional, and even phenomenal. If you enjoy killer guitar riffs, hooks, bends, and chops, then this is something to experience for yourself. We cannot by any means forget the incredible vocals and brilliant harmonies that fill the music with sheer power and greatness. Moreover, the choruses, background vocals, and excellent percussion timing in all 10 tracks will absolutely floor you. And, to give example of what I'm referring to play track 3 "Let The Hammer Fall" . This masterpiece is one of metal's ultimate power chord crunch sections, as the rhythm simply drives the song through-and-through. A true gem. This is such a guitar driven album that it will absolutely leave you drooling. Just when you think you have recovered from a brutal beating after listening to a track on this album, HammerFall unleashes another composition that completely destroys your way of thinking. This CD shows no mercy...at all! "Legacy Of Kings" is loaded with amazing talent. The production and engineering that took place in recording this album will, in my opinion, leave a staple in the heavy metal recording industry. And if you think I'm kidding...Then play track 4 "Dreamland". It is sure to convert you into a Templar Of Steel..

I just absolutly love this disc! great riffs!,great solos!,soaring vocals that fit the music perfectly. Joacim cans has just the right fit. High vocals but not a annoying high. The whole album contains hooks that would catch a whale. keep in mind that I am not a power metal fan
