A must have book for any Hawaii visitor!
After my husband and I decided to take our first long vacation together after the birth of our daughter, we pretty much knew we wanted to go to Hawaii. I was particularly keen on it, as I lived on Oahu as a young child and wanted to visit the places I remember growing up. Let's face it, though, a lot can change in 25 years. I was recommended "Oahu Revealed" by a poster on another internet message board and I will be eternally greatful. This book is awesome! The authors do nothing but tour the islands and subsequently have started a series of "Revealed" books about the Hawaiian Islands. For visitors to Oahu headed for the resort area of Waikiki Beach, this book is a godsend and worth the $13 just for the clear and consice road maps that are included throughout the book. Each morning we would plan out our route on how to get to the places we knew wanted to visit, but then we would come across suggested places off the beaten path that wound up being better than the ones we originally planned. Another offering in "Oahu Revealed" is a basic dictionary of Hawaiian words and meanings. This helped out a bunch with reading menus as a number of the dishes on the menus in local restaurants are labeled in Hawaiian. There is also a section that shows you the proper pronunciation of the double vowels that populate the names of almost every street in Honolulu...It came in very handy and by our 3rd day on the island, we sounded like we knew what we were saying! The book is divided into different sections: Activities, lodging, and dining are the main three. Each section is then divided into "areas" or the island, so if you are looking for an "ono" (delicious) restaurant on the North Shore, the listings and reviews are easy to locate. In the mood to snorkel, but don't want to go to Hanauma Bay and fight the crowds? Look up snorkeling and it would suggest the much better (and less crowded) Sharks Cove. With the help of Oahu Revealed we were able to find the cove easily and meet a really nice guy who rents snorkeling equipment from his beach house across the street at Shark's Cove Rentals. The book even offers areiel views of hotels which provides a birds-eye view of their location along the heavily populated Waikiki Beach. This is a great way to plan your trip before you book a hotel so you can see what type of location/beach is available, or whether or not is more inland and a walk from the ocean. With clear and appealing photos and detailed descriptions of sights, tastes and lodging, there is no way I would travel to the islands without a "Revealed" book in my backpack. With a website (www.wizardpub.com) that offers frequent updates to pricing, business closings and hotel renovations, the book is a wise investment for travelers to Hawaii...

I bought this book for a trip to Hawaii. It was one of the best investments I made for the trip. Oahu Revealed is very well written with just the right amount of humor, something not found in most travel books. It has everything from where to eat, where to stay, great beaches, maps, great places to visit, and not so great places. Places for adults and places to go with children. It also has pricing for many places. This book is available in most stores in Oahu, but I would reccomend getting it before you go. I read it cover to cover many times before going and again on the long plane ride there. I purchased my book from EBAY and saved even more money.I bought this book for a trip to Hawaii. Wonderful! An A+++ book if traveling to Oahu!

We have never been there before and needed something to assist in planning of where to go, what to do, and what we can 'expect'- even pricing for things. Since we purchased, a couple of friends who have been to Oahu have made recommendations for restaurants and one sightseeing trip that is a must do, and each of those suggestions were rated very highly in the book. The reviewers go to places anonymously and as such they get the 'true' experience of whatever place they review.The book provides great detail on all things related to the island of Oahu. Very accurate title. Answers many questions about Oahu
We are planning our first trip to Hawaii and had many questions concerning location of hotel and other places, costs, tours, food, transportation, etc. We have found the answer to just about everything we wanted to know in this book. It will make our trip much better as we will be prepared for most things. We will take it on the trip for a reference. Very informative book!
