    This set is comprised of three films, plus many extras, which have been dubbed The Orphic Trilogy because two of them have Orpheus in the title. The third is simply about a poet, like Orpheus. Criterion has done a superb job of remastering these very old films. Their only questionable choice was to substitute English translations of the poet's words, from time to time, instead of translating the original French words. I found it a bit disturbing to see a block of English words in the midst of these very French films. The original, which I find more satisfying, can be seen on an British edition DVD set. The films are delightful and Cocteau's use of trick photography is quite remarkable. There was no such thing, of course, as CGI at the time, so every effect was simply a ...
