About this product

Product Information

In this semi-sequel to 1941's HERE COMES MR. JORDAN, Terpsichore (Rita Hayworth), the Greek muse of dance, has learned that a Broadway producer (Larry Parks) is putting on a show about her and the other eight muses. She's not too happy with what she sees, however... so she descends from heaven to set things right. But when she and the producer fall in love, how can Terpsichore let him know who she really is? This time around the character of Mr. Jordan--who was originally played by Robert Montgomery--is portrayed by Roland Culver.

Item was as described and packaging was excellent. The only problem I had was the cost of her shipping which was originally $11.15 to ship ground for a 6-7 ounce item. Seller gave refund of $1.62. I recommended to seller that she use a cheaper shipping method to no avail. Total for actual shipping cost seller received was $9.53 to ship something that could have gone for only $4.13. It's one way to make an additional profit. It is unlikely that I purchase from this seller again.

Great musical nostalgia, and part of a sequal/remake grouping.

Great showcase for Rita Hayworth and other familiar hollywood actors. Sequel of "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" and remade as "Xanadu" with Olivia Newton John.

  • Rita Hayworth sings and dances like an angel

Rita Hayworth sings and dances like an angel while playing the Greek Love Goddess, Terpsichore, in this musical/fantasy/romantic comedy (1947). Director Alexander Hall known for hits such as; Once Upon a Time (1)(1944; Cary Grant and Janet Blair) and Here Comes Mr. Jordan (2)(1941; Robert Montgomery and Evelyn Keyes), recreated his 1941 movie with new stars and a musical theme. For many Rita Hayworth fans, this is simply fantastic as Hayworth rewrote her name as love goddess in the history of Hollywood. This is a perfect film which exploits the dancing/singing skills Hayworth; combined with sheer beauty, adorned in lovely costumes, extravagant décor in the company of charming chorus girls, Terpsichore comes down to earth from heaven as Kitty Pendleton to a play in a musical. The premise ...

  • Down To Earth

Being a lover of classic movies, I was delighted to view this beautiful 1946 picture. It is in glorious tecnicolor and it is somewhat of a sequel to "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" (which unfortunately is not available on DVD). The movie has some of the same characters as .....Mr. Jordan.Rita Hayworth and Larry Parks gives a marvelous performance and the role of Mr.Jordan is effectively played by Ronald Culver (I think) as Claude Rains was not available to paly that part. The story, in a nutshell is that, disturbed about a new Broadway musical's satire of Greek mythology, the goddess Terpsichore (Rita Hayworth) comes down to earth (with the help of Mr. Jordan) and lands a part in the show. She works her charms on the show's producer (Larry Parks)and he incorporates her changes into the show. ...

  • Rita in Technicolor

DOWN TO EARTH was made shortly ater Hayworth's hit B&W film GILDA. Rita looks as gorgeous in this film only in Technicolor! Two scenes show Rita to wonderful advantage: as she steps in line to show them how a real goddess dances and on a train platform with Larry Parks with her hair blowing in the wind. No one on film has EVER been more beautiful than Rita Hayworth in DOWN TO EARTH!
