    A fine start to a magnum opus, space opera.

    Weber is a good storyteller, and this is a fine beginning for his magnum opus, space opera. A nice long 15 plus hours, of adventure and an enjoyable story. A strong female main character, with moxie and a steel resolve. I enjoyed it from home in MI all the way to new mexico, on the way to PHX. Beware, that there are many more equally long and technically taxing books in this series. Well worth the time, if you have it.
