This movie , with Mel Gibson, is historical fiction. Gibson, as a father of 5 children, had been in a war before, so he must wanted to raise his family, and stay out of unjust wars. Then the redcoats shot his son which sent this father back into a war he has not wanted to be any part of. Of course, Gibson's character showed up the English, and was able to go back to his family. The family was a tightly knit group, which was nice. There was war, romance, family, tragedy, and much love. It gets a bit violent on one part, but the movie as a whole was enjoyable all the way through. I recommend this historical fiction, The Patriot. This movie , with Mel Gibson, is historical fiction. The Blu ray version of THE PATRIOT adds considerable visual depth and enhanced sound quality to an already excellent film. This is an extended-cut with added- in scenes that help flesh-out some missing elements. Solid performances from Mel Gibson, the late Heath Ledger, Tom Wilkinson, Chris Cooper & Jason Isaacs add to its appeal. You can especially appreciate the authenticity of the military staging and costuming and the direction from Roland Emmerich. If you haven't seen the film, I suggest viewing the special features first (only 1080i) that reveal the amount of effort that went into the production. The Patiot(2007Blu-Ray Disc
This is an excellant movie, one of Mel Gibson's best. It is set back during the war for independance. It has an all star cast and the detail in the costumes and props are right on. But that is what we expect from a Gibson film. Heath Ledger was his eldest son and turns in an explosive performance. I would recomend this film to aqnyone. My son's school showed it in US history this year as a staple of the curriculum. I think it is a good way to show our teens that the freedom they enjoy now was not free, but was built on the sacrifices of our ancestors.This is an excellant movie, one of Mel Gibson's best.
