It combines Nikon's Extra-low Dispersion (ED) optics for increased clarity. It has an additional 4x digital zoom.15 Scene Modes automatically adjust controls for great pictures instantly. With a choice of 15 Scene Modes, you can quickly select the most appropriate mode for the "scene" you are capturing. Scene Assist feature guides you to take better pictures in Portrait, Landscape, Sports and Night Portrait Scene Modes. Use framing guides to help set focus and framing for the most common picture taking situations. Macro: close-up shooting from less than 1/2 inch away. Capture vivid colors in close-up shots of flowers, insects and other small objects. Movie Mode: capture live action with sound. Clips are saved as a QuickTime movie, which can easily be emailed to family and friends.Uses Nikon's exclusive 256-Segment Matrix metering linked to AF area to set the light meter and exposure setting for the best picture in the most lighting situations. Contrast AF; 5-Area Multi Autofocus System lets you choose your focus spot from a grid (center, right, left, top, bottom). AF Assist Illuminator makes sharp focus possible when the subject is not well lit. 5 mode built-in flash: Auto, Red-Eye Reduction (by pre-flash), Anytime Flash, Flash Cancel and Slow Sync. Features One-Touch Upload for easy image transfer from camera to computer. Features One-Touch Red-Eye Fix with PictureProject software.

    Small camera, many features.

    The 4800 has the right mix of features and capabilities without becoming too complex to use. It is smaller and light weight. Small enough to fit into A pocket. It has an 8X zoom lens with Nikon glass for sharp clear pictures.

    My bad

    SD Card :

    i like the camera,although it didn't come with an SD Card,and all of the cards,i have tried will not work in the Nikon COOLPIX 4800 4.0.i have been told that all it will take is a 2GB or 4GB card. i have tried several shops and, even Radio Shop,and they don't have a 2 or 4 Gb card.
