Brilliant Idea! Seat clamps are further to rear than standard, could require other setup changes to your bike.
This is a brilliant idea. Road ride in a comfortable position yet with a quick flip you are up and forward, opening the hip angle for more optimal aero riding. I've had this seat post installed for about 2 weeks. It moves to the back position fairly easily by squeezing the seat between your thighs and pushing backwards (hands-free). Moving to the forward position is a little awkward at the moment, requiring you to grab the nose of the seat with your hand, lift your weight off the seat, and pull it forward. Mine seems to stick a little, hoping it will loosen up with use. Both seat positions are over center, meaning gravity should prevent the seat from shifting positions accidentally, and my experience so far is there is no indication this will happen. The downsides of this seatpost are: 1. ... This is a brilliant idea. Perhaps they could create a Titanium version, but I'm sure the cost would go up considerably. 3. The rear position is further back than a typical seatpost. The seat clamp is offset too far to the rear. The Redshift site says it's a typical position, but that is not the case as compared with both the original seatpost from my Redline R750 or the carbon seatpost I upgraded to previously. Because of this additional rear set-back, I have my seat as far forward on the rails as it will go and the seat is not quite centered over the included seatpost. There is no forward adjustment remaining. This puts me back enough on my bike that I feel like I'm reach a bit for the hand rests on the shifters. So I could get a shorter stem for my bike but then my knees get closer to the drops and aerobars when pedalling. At this point it's more comfortable for me to ride in the forward position regardless of road or aero riding position, so a forward-seatpost would likely work just as well for me at a lower cost and less added weight, especially if I purchased a carbon version. So the bottom line, this is great idea and a very cool product with one significant flaw (for me) in that the position of the seat clamp is too far toward the rear.
