HP 8600 Display Control Panel
The new (used) display works great!! It's a sad day, with a large number of complaints about these displays documented, HP would not replace it as a true defective product. However, a finally got in touch with a HP Customer Service person who went above and beyond to get be a coupon towards a new printer and even sent me new ink cartridges for the ones I had recently purchased for the defective printer. Now, it's a good day, I have my old printer working and a new printer with extra ink waiting to be used when I run out of ink on my current printer or maybe I will give one of the printers to a grandchild. Thanks to the HP Customer Service for doing the right thing and thanks to Ebay for having the replacement panel.The new (used) display works great!! Can't really tell............
This screen obviously came out of a very used printer. The printer I used this screen in had only printed about 4000 pages when its screen failed. There is no way of knowing if or when this screen will fail. It is good to know that there is at least a source for screens.......shame on HP for not stepping up and supplying new replacements at their cost!

Prolonged useful life of HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer
These printers are know for their failing Control Dashboard Displays; they become unreadable because the LCD screen looses contrast. The printer may still work, but it is extremely difficult to use other functions like Copy & Fax. This replacement part, which is not available from HP, resolved the problem. The part may have been salvaged from a discarded printer, but at $35.99 it was worth a try and it was successful. I found instructions on the web on how to replace this part and it was relatively easy (assuming you have basic DIY skills).These printers are know for their failing Control Dashboard Displays; they become unreadable because the LCD screen looses contrast. Easy replacement
This was the correct display screen for the HP Officejet 8600. The process of replacing it was easy. The only hitch was that the display screen was not equipped with the hinge that attaches the screen to the body of the machine. You have to open up the screen of the old one, take it out, and open up the replacement piece and insert it. The fit wasn't perfect, but the display works well.

Works, But More Work Than Expected
The product worked as advertised, however, I did not realize that some work had to be done in order to install it. I expected to be able to simply remove the old one and install this new one. Instead I had to remove the old one, take it apart, take apart the new one and either take the old hinge and install it on the new one or take the circuit board side of the new one and install it with the rest of the old one. It works fine.
