Dated 1890 ... “Spectacular rare book on wildlife/wild game hunting in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Dated 1890 (no edition stated but believed to be an early printing but not first edition). Octavo 8vo 8 1/2 x 6 inches. 587pps + ads at rear. Profusely illustrated w/nearly 200 illustrations (uncollated). All edges gilt. Original publisher's pictorial red cloth in black and gilt. Covers moderately worn, scuffed and soiled. Corners/edges moderately rubbed and worn. Light staining to covers. Wear to joints with several small tears along joints. Boards firmly attached, binding secure. Spine also in decorative black and gilt, red cloth heavily sunned and faded. Slight cock. Original gold decorative endpapers, toned and foxed with POS clumsily marked out to both ffep and half-title (see photo). Pages lightly toned, occasional light foxing/spotting. POS in pencil in several places. A few gatherings lightly sprung, slightly loose, edges slightly uneven as a result. Gutter starting in a few places.”
