The Best That You Can Do is Fall in Love
This awesome shot of nostalgia really took me back! Before the movie really even began, the sound of Christopher Cross singing "Best That You Can Do" had me on the verge of tears for my young self, wishing I could live life all over again. Dudley Moore and Sir John Gielgud were so amazing in this movie; it would have been a dismal shell of itself without either of them. If you haven't ever seen "Arthur," or if like me, it has been more than a lifetime since you have, do yourself a favor and buy this video. Next to falling in love, it's the best that you can do!This awesome shot of nostalgia really took me back! Bad quality
I love the movie story, however, even though it was new and in the package it seems to have a problem with the volume. Can hardly hear the movie lines so I turn the volume all the way up.... Then when music plays the volume is then blasting and I have to turn way down. It's kind of a pain and I'm disappointed.

He is heir to his father Stanford's (Thomas Barbour) $750 million fortune, which he is told will only be his if he marries the upper class Susan Johnson (Jill Eikenberry). He does not love Susan, but his family feels she will make him finally grow up. Arthur reluctantly agrees to the arranged marriage, but he meets a working-class Queens waitress, Linda Marolla (Liza Minnelli), and despite her being a shoplifter, is attracted to her. Arthur struggles with his promise to marry Susan. While visiting his grandmother Martha (Geraldine Fitzgerald), Arthur shares his feelings for Linda, but is warned again that he will be disowned. At the church, he jilts Susan, resulting in her abusive father, Burt Johnson (Stephen Elliott), attempting to stab Arthur with a cheese knife, though he is prevented by Martha. Arthur tells those in the church that there will be no wedding and passes out. Linda attends to his wounds and they discuss living a life of poverty. A horrified Martha tells Arthur that he can have his fortune because no Bach has ever been working class. Arthur declines, but at the last minute, talks privately to Martha. When he returns to Linda's side, he tells her that he declined again – Martha's dinner invitation, he means, but he did take the money. Arthur's pleased chauffeur Bitterman (Ted Ross) drives the couple through Central Park.

If you're a Dudley Moore fan and haven't seen 'ARTHUR' (1981) . . . you definitely need to see this one because it is considered one of his best performances of Moore's acting career. Moore is the principle actor in this feature length film playing opposite to Liza Minnelli, both are the perfect chemistry for fun and laughter in a story of two unlikely people to fall in love.

This 80s movie is a travel time, a good story with a great cast…you’ll see how New York City was a several decades ago. Includes a good song performed by Christopher Cross (Arthur’s theme Best that you can do). This movie is highly recommended.
