    Sci-fi at Its Most Mediocre

When I got this video (which I got as part of a package deal), I wasn't sure what to expect. But I popped it into my player and started it. Right from the beginning it had all the qualities (such as they were) of a B-grade Saturday afternoon potboiler. The sets were something a high school drama club might do, and the acting was at best stiff and cliche. But then the storyline added a twist about midway that I did not expect--and then it got at least interesting. The plot line was well played out after that, and even the props and sets reflected that twist. How the film ended was somewhat expected but not dissatisfying. In my opinion it's not the best of sci-fi films, but if you're a fan of the 1950s drive-in movie genre, then you will find this film at least entertaining. But if you're ...

  • 70s Sci-Fi is the absolute best there is!

If you enjoy the 70s Space 1999 and UFO, then this is great entertainment, especially since it fits so nicely into the Anderson universe! I love that some of the stars of this ended up going on to be in the UFO series. Great story, but I only wish it had gone a little further as the parallel Earths were too similar with only print/writing in reverse? So many possibilities and so much potential!

  • A sci-fi gem generally overlooked, but worth watching. Amazing premise!

From the same studio that did "Fireball XL5" and all the others with "Supermarionation" (i.e., marionettes) one would expect the same, but they used real human actors in this one. The production values are very good for a 1969 sci-fi flick, shot in Technicolor. Engaging story as well. Imagine a duplicate earth on the other side of the sun, one not obvious to us on this earth. But with a special twist.

  • Gerry Anderson hits the big screen.

I remember seeing this movie a lot in the 70's on late night tv. The idea of parallel earth has always been an interesting concept. The movie is overall pretty good but is slow in some spots. The science for the time is portrayed well and the main characters are interesting in particular the project manager of the mission who has a singular vision- to get there and back at any cost. Most reviewers just hate this flick and ravage it on utube, but if you like Gerry Andersons body of work you will like this. One more thing. I recently saw a scientist explaining the possibility of an earth on the opposite side of the sun as an impossible idea. He had a pretty good case explaining how the other planets in the solar system would act on both earths and we would eventually catch a glimpse of the ...

  • Great Garry Anderson work.

This is great vintage Garry Anderson material from the story line to the charters. All modeling is great with a good look at late 60's styles and colors. Music is excellent and is done by the long term associate of Garry's work Barry Gray. Cheers!
