Alabama Shakes' debut release BOYS & GIRLS marks the arrival of a major new rock-and-roll band. The album, on ATO Records, was recorded at the Bomb Shelter in Nashville, TN. Produced and mixed by the band members, the album is a vibrant fusion of swampy, dirty South rock, blues and soul delivered with punk rock fervor. From the heartrending title song to such stomps as "Rise to the Sun," the album demonstrates the sense of groove and space the band learned from their idols, along with a blistering force and emotion that simply can't be learned.

    alabama shakes cd

    Not bad love her voice songs are well tracked but a little disappointed because seen them live an so much better then cd but some bands songs are better live then recorded but still love to play while driving

    Good but not great.

    I saw this group on PBS and I was blown away. I was a little dissapointed in the CD though. It may be a little over produced or the songs are not the best of the group. I will enjoy it but it's missing some of the feeling I felt when watching the live performance. The band is really good and the singer is amazing. Some of there magic comes through on the CD but not enough to experience it as the powerful, moving group they really are. I have experienced this with CD's before and I really think that who ever produced it was going for technical proficiency rather than letting people feel the soul to the sound. This is the only CD of this group that I can find. It's surprising as they have enough songs to record more. I recommend it but not highly.
