    ideal source for hard-to-find standard patterns

    The patterns in this book are very specific military designs which can be difficult to find. The instructions are very clear (note: they are in Japanese) with the exception that the construction processes of many design elements that are repeated across multiple patterns (e.g. the infamous MA-1/N3-B "cigarette" accessory pocket) are only explained once. However, once the reader understands this, it is fairly simple to find the necessary construction steps in the other pattern instructions and complete any particular design. I think a non Japanese speaker should have no issue using this book if they learn some basic characters (e.g. "front", "back", "seam") and use Google translate's OCR feature to translate the rest of the text with whatever degree of accuracy is possible.
