    Whimsical and Creative

    If you find cats funny and charming, and if you like an amazingly well-conceived parody, you may really enjoy this book. Everything is fictional and photoedited but done in an extremely convincing manner. For example in "Chapter I - An Historical Perspective," the authors show pictures of Egyptian cat mummies, cat hieroglyphs, and perfectly annotated fake museum notes. There are fake biographies of famous cat artists, like Minnie, the Abstract Expressionist and Ginger, the Neo-Synthesist! The pages are filled with beautiful images and hilarious descriptions. For me this book is a definite mood elevator!

    Humor, art and cats all in the same book...so enjoyable

    My copy of this book is softcover, and has 96 pages. It has full color photographs that I think cat lovers will really get a kick out of! They are so cute! This book explores cat sculpture (shredded furniture! LOL!)...and best of all cat painting! just wait till you see this! you'll want to set up a studio for your own kittycat! And this is a good book to turn to if you ever get mad at your precious for doing something destructive...it will make you laugh until you don't feel bad anymore.     The photos are unbelievable but the text is also thoughtful and researched. Includes art critique and theory, historical context, and even spiritual angle. Who wouldn’t want a collection of objectively brilliant paintings by CATS? Purchasing copies for everyone I know!

    Title is ambiguous, intriguing & ultimately accurate

    I happened on this book in my local library & mistakenly assumed it was a cutesy book for cat-lovers. Instead, I found it to be a scholarly treatment of a phenomenon dating back to Egyptian times and a subject of serious, multi-disciplinary study. As an Art major & cat-lover, I had to have it for its wonderful illustrations, if nothing else. It introduced me to "speciesism" and challenged my viewpoint on aesthetics, both human and feline. I bought a copy for my personal collection as well as for my skeptical vetinarian. It has has afforded me much delight and spirited conversation with others who appreciate the unique and impossible-to-define nature of cats.

    they aren't kidding.

    It is a "serious" subject which has me in hysterics every time I read any part of it. To think that "art" painted by cats is worth hanging in galleries is beyond belief. But it is according to this book. I bought several copies to give as gifts it is so compelling.
