About this product

Product Information

In the cloud-washed airspace between the cornfields of Illinois and blue infinity, a man puts his faith in the propeller of his biplane. For disillusioned writer and itinerant barnstormer Richard Bach, belief is as real as a full tank of gas and sparks firing in the cylinders...until he meets Donald Shimoda--former mechanic and self-described messiah who can make wrenches fly and Richard's imagination soar.... In Illusions, the unforgettable follow-up to his phenomenal bestseller Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Richard Bach takes to the air to discover the ageless truths that give our souls wings: that people don't need airplanes to soar...that even the darkest clouds have meaning once we lift ourselves above them... and that messiahs can be found in the unlikeliest places--like hay fields, one-traffic-light midwestern towns, and most of all, deep within ourselves.

One of my favorite books, and authors.

I read it when I was young and it was mind shaping for me. I've missed it, and will be reading it again throughout the rest of my life.

  • Illusions by Richard Bach

I had a friend who thought Illusions is the greatest book ever written. Though I'm sure one would get a different answer to that question from each person asked, I personally have replaced the book at least 4 times! Hopefully, the copies I loaned out have been read, re-read and passed along. Aside from being a good, easy-reading story just for the entertainment value, Illusions presents the reader with a unique perspective on the the question, "why are we here?" Whether one subscribes to a traditional viewpoint of the world or a metaphysical one, excerpts from "The Messiah's Handbook" provide food for thought and some reasonable advice for navigating the pathways and pitfalls of our lives. Relax & Enjoy! All the best, Kathy B

  • Illusions - Quick Read, Good Philosophy

This is an excellent little book. It's a quick read and has a great story. It's about a messiah who decides to escape the messiah life preaching and being followed by crowds, as told by a person he befriends and teaches. The great thing about this book though is the philosophical insights it brings up. The basic philosophy is that things are the way you believe them to be. As it would be applied to real life is exaggerate for the story (example: walking on water is possible if you believe it is) but the basic principal is good. You are good at what you believe you are good at; you are happy if you believe you are happy, ect. I would recommend this book to anyone.

  • You are more powerful than you realize. Take advantage of it

It’s a great read. The characters are compelling. Makes you think outside the box. Makes you think that there is more to what we’re living in then we realize. Makes you realize you’re more powerful than you think

  • VERY GOOD (or very bad with little room in between)

If you are not confined by the thought that physics only allows for a 3 dimentional linear time based existence then this is a great book for old and new souls alike. If you think that this is it and when you die you go only to heaven or hell (or limbo if catholic) it is a nice read of fiction for you. Or a complete waste of time and probably considered blasphemy. It is done in a way that goes beyond most peoples ability to comprehend thus providing the possibility to learn some basic lessons while having a good time.
