About this product

Product Information

This book is an outgrowth of my teaching of biochemistry to undergraduates, graduate students, and medical students at Yale and Stanford. My aim is to provide an introduction to the principles of biochemistry that gives the reader a command of its concepts and language. I also seek to give an appreciation of the process of discovery in biochemistry.

Great for getting the basics of biochemistry

Book is great, very cheap and with one word : amazing. It introduce you the world of biochemistry. You don't need a lot of preknowledge for understanding it. For an example : I'm 14 and I'm still in primary school and I understand it very well. But there are some more complicated words too and especially for me, beacouse I'm not a native english speaker so i need a dictionary in almost evrey sentence. The only dissadvanteg is a date of issue but the book is quite well up to the newest techniques and facts in biochemistry.

  • Biochemistry

I had to buy the book for the Biochemistry class I am in which is required for my major. I like the book okay. Some of the drawings of structures are drawn in an odd fashion, in my opinion, and can be confusing. Also, it gets wordy in the chapter readings-I like books that tell me what I need to know, show me examples, give me problems with solutions and that is it. Basically, I like them to be as straight-forward and concise as possible. This book however, seems to go on and on about things which cause the reading to be longer than neccesary but it does try to make sure you are understanding the concepts. I just don't agree with the authors on this and I would prefer some drawings to be drawn a different way but again, this is just my opinion according to how I do things and was ...

  • Excellent book

This a great source for understanding any level of biochemistry. I bought this book because I am taking a molecular toxicology class, and had never taken biochem. It's very easy to read and understand- definite resource for a good basis in science.
