Use empathy, preserve dignity and maintain professionalism
As a former federal law enforcement officer I was privileged to attend one of George's training sessions when he first started....years ago. Now, as a professor at a state college, I see the need to help my criminal justice students begin their journey in becoming a verbal professional. Verbal Judo provides students the professional mindset they need to have to be good police officers. It gives great advise to overcome difficult situations and helps us to understand how to maintain our professionalism in the face of an antagonistic citizen. It also has many tips that could be used to maintain,improve or save personal relationships....with its list of words and phrases that should never be used. I bought this book, because, being a police officer, I was curious about Doc`s street experience using a communication model that he created and that he had used for many years in his carrer as a cop. The 5 step hard style is very effective with basically everyone. Remember those ads that say: "Don't try this at home!" Well, this is exactly what you should try at home with your kids, with your wife, girlfriend, etc. This book can give you some gidelines for defusing conflict situations in all areas of life including your own family, take verbal abuse with style and confidence, and virtually to generate voluntary compliance. I recommend to everybody. Buy it and read it with confidence. MIND BLOWING REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE! PUT TO WORK!
Well i like this book in far to many ways to describe! It really touches on the real truth on how us as HUMANBEINGS think and operate! I really love this book and like some other books as well like The Four Agreements. AS i get older, thinking and doing things that will not waste my time and things that do not SERVE ME!! I know and believe that if one reads this book and very importantly STUDIES this book to really understand what this book is really portraying word for word IT WILL HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST WAYS IN SAVING YOUR LIFE! I HAVE BEEN DOWN A ROAD IN MY PAST IN LIFE AND DEATH SITUATIONS AND BASED ON THAT, AND THIS BOOK AND THE MEMORIES I HAVE THIS BOOK HAS VERY HIGH PROTECTIVE AVENUES!!
