    You'll be hooked from the start. Great origin story.

    This is probably the most important Halo book of them all. It's a great description of how the Master Chief and other Spartans came to be and how humanity and the Covenant initially interacted. Hard to put it down once you start. I'm on my 4th read of it over the last decade.

    Great book!!! READ IT NOW!!!

    Well, it's a book, or rather a trilogy of books based on the popular video game about futuristic marines battling alien meanies. There aren't too many ways you can go wrong with a book. It can't break, it can't "not work," so unless it arrives shredded it's going to be a pretty good buy. If you're interested in the Halo games, the books make for facinating reading because they extend the Halo universe and introduces new characters. Even if you're not interested in the games, but love science-fiction, the Halo trilogy may be for you. Halo is a unique story about a mysterious ring in space which poses a threat to the human race. The protagonist, Master Chief, is an über-marine known as a Spartan donning special armor and weapons. The enemy, of course, is a race of aliens called The ...

    Rushed in some parts but overall an amazing book!

    It was a very interesting read. It gave a lot of insight as to how the Master Chief came to be the super soldier that he is. Of course you would have to have played Halo before reading this to understand what's going on. Overall it was an awesome journey, this book, though in my opinion some parts of the book were kinda rushed, especially the prologue. Then again the campaigns in the Halo games are fast. It takes like five hours or more to beat it I think...Some of the other books in the series have different authors so I can't wait to read the differences in writing in the other books. Hope you enjoy!

    A great read

    This book is amazingly detailed, I say that not only as an avid fan of Halo but of literature (I read many books). It goes into great detail of all the children taken from their home at the age of seven, because like spartans, these children were trained the be warriors at the age of seven. It goes into some detail about Dr. Halsey which is the creator of the Spartan Program, but the real treat is you get to see how John 117 evolved into the warrior you know as Master Chief, and also the fall of the Spartans home, Reach. This book is excellent and I highly recommend Eric Nylund.

    Excellent Book!

    I bought this book because I am a fan of the Halo storyline and video games. This book tells the tale from when the UNSC puts Master Chief into the SPARTAN program at age 6, to when Captain Keyes slipspace jumps to right outside of the first halo installation. It is a great book that tells a lot about the pre-Halo CE story. It answered a lot of my questions that I had after playing Halo CE and Halo 2. I believe the book is between 300 and 350 pages; I finished within 2 days of receiving the book because I was so excited about getting it. Buy it, you won't regret it and you will be left wanting to read more of the series.
