Should Be Staple for Everyone's DVD Collection

Great classic movie!! This is the kind of entertainment we need more than ever, especially these days. There is too much violence and open display of over the top adult topics in movies and shows, available for viewing in current times. This movie handles adult topics, but keeps it low key enough that you can watch with entire family. The kids love the very catchy music that will have them singing and humming the songs for days after watching. The bonus disc is great too. If you are interested in facts about the making of the movie and extra trivia about it.

Sound of Music WOULD be wonderful if it played

This disc 1 would not play properly. Voices dropped out. Picture froze. And some scenes from the original never showed up. Disc 2 played, but it was just additional features. Nice, but not what I was after.

  • Fantastic Musical DVD

What a great 2 disc DVD of the Sound of Music. It brings together all the actors & actresses, interviews them, and tells how scenes were filmed! So fantastic!

  • Great Story

Actually saw this movie in 1965 at the Michael Todd Theater in Chicago. It was a great movie then and still is. Now I have it in my DVD collection. I'm humming the music just like I did back then. Everyone should view this movie at least once. Such talented actors and the music is wonderful. It was filmed at a time when "blood and guts scenes" were not always needed to entertain.

  • Somebody please SHOOT ME!!!

This is the most HORRENDOUS piece of cinematic garbage I have ever been forced to lay eyes upon. It doesn't matter what format it's on. Whether it be DVD, VHS, Blue Ray Disc or telepathic implant, this movie still makes me want to blow chunks! I first saw this god-awful celluloid atrocity when I was seven. It was movie night. So, we all went out to the movies! I kept hearing from the adults all about "how wonderful this movie was" and "how I will enjoy this musical". When the opening scene comes on the screen, and we all see the beautiful mountains and lush green plains of Salzburg, Austria...and Julie Andrews opens with the verse, "The hills are alive with the Sound of Music", a lead weight just fell to the pit of my stomach. I knew at that ...
