About this product

Product Information

Originally published as two separate volumes in 1969, Jim Morrison's first published volume of poetry gives a revealing glimpse of an era and the man whose songs and savage performances have left an indelible impression on our culture. Intense, erotic, and enigmatic, Jim Morrison's persona is as riveting now as the lead singer/composer "Lizard King" was during The Doors' peak in the late sixties. His fast life and mysterious death remain controversial even to this day. The Lords and the New Creatures , Morrison's first published volume of poetry, is an uninhibited exploration of society's dark side--drugs, sex, fame, and death--captured in sensual, seething images. Here, Morrison gives a revealing glimpse at an era and at the man whose songs and savage performances have left their indelible impression on our culture.

    Good read..

I was trying to find "An American Prayer" the book he gave to people in the film, "The Doors" with Val Kilmer. I have the album, but not sure it was ever really in print. There are two books of Jim's early poetry, and they are very good , but mostly dark..

  • The Lords and the New Creatures. A great buy in Paperback.

This is an original print of TLATNC in paperback form. A very good buy for fans who are not wealthy. The hardbound edition with JM's autograph embossed into the front purple cover is magnificent but expensive today. My mom had 2 copies of the original "An American Prayer" one was signed to her by Jim (& stolen in Lima, Peru). The other, we still have as well as the hard & softbound Lords book. TLATNC was the only book published during Jim's lifetime. An American Prayer was a private printing that was only given out to friends. They kept the books in a cardboard box at the workshop. Danny Sugarman used to give them to those who asked (on Jim's behalf) for free. That was a very long time ago.

  • Stolen :-(

I'm sure it's great, but I never saw it. It was stolen off my porch. Obviously not the fault of the sender. Thanks anyway
