    Is it Still Sci-Fi When You See it Happening?

    Would you give up love and passion if it would save you from jealousy, heartache and sadness? The pain of childbirth is eliminated but so is the bond between children and their parents. Individuality is unheard of since the community is all that matters. Aldous Huxley has written a classic of sci-fi, satire and social commentary. The future - or is it the present? - is all about de-sensitization to sex and violence, consumerism, the infinite pursuit of pleasure and mass market thinking. This is the setting of Brave New World. People are created in labs, brought up and educated in the values of the community which frowns upon individualism and originality. They are sedated into happy submission by regulated doses of Soma - think Prozac - and conditioned to be content and productive - ...
