Once upon a time, in a place far away, lived a man named Gary Larson who used to draw cartoons. It was a cartoon that appeared for many years in daily newspapers and was loved by millions. (And was confusing to millions more.) But one day he stopped. Gary went into hiding. He made a couple of short films. He played his guitar. He threw sticks for his dogs. They threw some back. Yet Gary was restless. He couldn't sleep nights. Something haunted him. (Besides Gramps.) Something that would return him to his roots in biology, drawing and dementia -- a tale called There's a Hair in My Dirt! A Worm's Story. It begins a few inches underground, when a young worm, during a typical family dinner, discovers there's a hair in his plate of dirt. He becomes rather upset, not just about his tainted meal but about his entire miserable, wormy life. This, in turn, spurs his father to tell him a story -- a story to inspire the children of invertebrates everywhere...

    Adults will love!

    This is not your ordinary children's book. In fact, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under the age of 17. I picked it up in a waiting room expecting to read a children's story. Instead, I found a hilarious story with adult humor all the way through! I used this book in my teaching reading class at college and the teacher as well as my classmates were hysterical the whole way through. This book could even be used as a small gift for those friends who you just can't seem to get something for. The illustrations are also amazing! I didn't know who this comic was before the book but after reading it I can see why he's so popular.

    Fun stuff

    Cheerful, wonderful illustrations. I ran across this title kind of out of nowhere, but took a chance on it. Glad I did. Has brought many smiles to the people that have read it. The condition of the book was also in great condition as well. A friend of mine likes "out there" books, so I decided to purchase this book. If you want something to laugh about, then go ahead and choose this book.

    awesome book with unexpected message

    great humorous explanation of difference between just "loving" nature and understanding our ecosystem. while the cartoon drawings may appeal to small children, the story is actually for older children. The ones who giggle at potty humor and gross stuff.
