    This is Grunge.

For me, this album is the very foundation of the grunge era. From Mother Love Bone (RIP Andrew) to Soundgarden (RIP Chris) and Pearl Jam, Singles clearly defines what the decade of music was about: The Seattle Sound. Singles is an absolutely "can't miss" album from a historic standpoint.

  • Near Perfect Soundtrack

As a huge fan of 90s rock from Seattle, I had to get this, as it has a few hard-to-find tracks. State of Love & Trust and Breath are two of Pearl Jam's very best (also available on their Rearviewmirror greatest hits collection). If you've never heard of Mother Love Bone, then this is the perfect chance to get their relatively unknown classic - Chloe Dance/Crown of Thorns. It starts with some moving piano and lyrics and eventually breaks out into the kind of rock you'd expect from that scene. Birth Ritual immediately became one of my favorite Soundgarden songs, as Chris Cornell absolutely wails over a killer guitar riff. On a related note, the greatest gem on the soundtrack might be Seasons by Chris Cornell. It's an acoustic masterpiece that perfectly captures the melancholy sentiments ...

  • Great Soundtrack to a Great Era in Music

As far as the Seattle music scene in the early 90's and grunge rock in general you would be hard pressed to find a better soundtrack or album encompassing the whole scene more than the Singles soundtrack album. It has, with the exceptions of Nirvana, Helmet and Tool, oh and Rage against the Machine, all the greats...Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, MOTHER LOVE BONE, Mudhoney and Paul Westerberg of the Replacements...it even has HEART doing Zepplin's The BATTLE OF EVERMORE under the moniker, the Lovemongers. The music is GREAT!!! Like it sounds even better 15 years on and I listened to it every day when I was 16!!! Whoever put the soundtrack together did an excellent job! I don't think BREATHE or STATE OF LOVE AND TRUST are ON any other Pearl ...

  • The Essential Grunge Sampler

This CD marks the era when grunge music was at its peak. Though it didn't feature the most popular band of its genre - Nirvana, it gives us a sample of the Seattle sound, offering the best from popular bands like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. It also features two of Paul Westerberg's (The Replacements) songs that is prominent throughout the movie. Arguably one of the best soundrack albums created, it's a must have for all fans of the early 90s Seattle rock scene.

  • Like it

Has some really good tunes by Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Definitely recommend it if you like any of these groups!
