    McDugg's New Friend by Rosemary Wells

    Charming 1930's-era illustrations of an engaging little West Highland Terrier made this an irresistible purchase for our family. (My two-year-old is a huge McDuff fan!) In this story, McDuff and his family are awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus -- who makes a rather unusual appearance. The tale ends with a new "friend" in the household, and a very dear addition it is. This book was the highlight of a Christmas stocking and has been enjoyed again and again.
