    Intelligent video server

Finds all the shows you like and recorded them even if they change channels, networks, time slots, and length. Records 2 shows. Find shows by key words like actor or directors. I Use pilot as a key word to load record new shows to see if I like them. Can be linked with other tivos local to share programming. Its job is to keep full of your favorite cabe programming as well as be able to watch programs from places like Netflix and Amazon and a lot more than that. It does require a network connection and a subscription form cable and tivo to use all the features. I have 5 of these and love them all.

  • TIVo HD DVR

I'm 1 week into hooking up My new TIVo HD XL. It is my 3rd TIVo so I'm writing this from the standpoint of the refinement of the concept since its original roll-out. I've always felt that TIVo, as a basic concept, gave its user the control that is necessary to manipulate recordings and their selection criterion. This new unit does that well for the most part and find it quite usable and it has advanced (but not overly fast) throughout its life. I did find that the "Season Pass" didn't do a real good job on obeying the request to ONLY record new episodes, but insisted on grabbing every well identified repeat performance that must then be deleted. Which means that selection criterion differs in no way from the "NEW and REPEAT" selection. So I must make ...

  • TCD748000

I looked for this model because it is the last version that has two coaxial inputs for simultaneous antenna and cable inputs. Later versions have only one input which is in my opinion a severe downgrade in capability. The 1 TB hard disk is a great plus. The current Bolt series interface is a little nicer and faster than the this series but the deciding factor was being able to get my local TV channels. I had to delete a lot of data and watch lists which might have been easier if I had asked TIVO before investing a lot of time setting up channels. TIVO transferred my existing subscription for my old defective HD DVR to the new unit.

  • This Box is a must to have if you are renting a Cable Company's DVR. Sweet!

First off, I was using ATT's U-verse service for several years and then moved to a new home. U-verse is not available here at the new neighborhood. Charter Cable is it... period. What a downgrade this is in service, TV programing and, for the purpose of this review, equipment. I can't even get Fox News in High Def from these clowns but I digress. The point of this review is to discuss the Tivo Premiere XL as it compares to U-verse and Cable Company DVRs. The Tivo DVR is loaded with features which are very similar to the U-verse box and in many cases superior. The Charter rental DVR is a dinosaur by comparison to both the U-verse Box and my new Tivo Box. The Tivo Premiere XL does not run out of recording space. I have yet to exceed 25% of the recording space available ...

  • I Miss my Tivo!

Tivo is great! My 2 year old Premiere XL died. Hard drive failure. Ugh! Regular TV for two weeks is killing me!!! I need my Tivo. I LOVE my Tivo. I miss my Tivo so much:( Just get one already! Getting one with a lifetime subscription is not a bad idea. You will use this thing until you or it dies. It's totally worth the $20/month and a few hundred dollars for lifetime subscription is THE SMART MOVE! If you're handy, you can get an xl with a 1TB drive and upgrade it to 2TB. Its tricky with Linux and such, but do-able. Premiere XL is THX certified, awesome! It needs a tuning adapter from the cable company to work, as well as a card. You will love Tivo. Get one, get you're T'von.
