    Nostalgia Electrics 4-Qt electric ice cream maker ICMP400B

    Makes delicious ice cream in about 1/2 hour. I researched several ice cream makers before deciding on my purchase. This maker is very easy to use and clean. No leaking issues based on the design and thickness of the bucket. The see-through lid allows you to see how thick the mixture is and if it's ready to your liking (soft-serve). I've made two batches now (one vanilla and one outstanding banana split recipe from a friend) and absolutely love it. I simply set it in my kitchen sink, fill the container with the ice cream mixture, put on the motor, add ice/salt around it and plug it in. Half an hour or so later, I take out and scrape off the paddle, put on the lid cover and set in the freezer for an hour to harden enough for ice cream cone dipping.     OK, but...

    The clear plastic lid has to be smacked with your hand to get it to fit over the aluminum canister. The lid is just a little too small for the canister. The dasher doesn't scrape the walls of the canister very well, it misses the canister walls by about 1/8". Aside from the poor quality of the fit of the components, it does make ice cream. The ice cream will have a frozen portion due to the ice cream mix freezing solid to the canister wall. Decanting the ice cream from the canister to another storage container becomes a two part process. First get the soft ice cream out of the canister, then scrape the walls and bottom of the canister to remove the rest of the ice cream.

    easy to use and easier clean up

    I have only made chocolate and vanilla to this point but so far everything has gone great. The tin fits nicely in my freezer although I have taken to buying plastic containers so I can make multiple batches. I am looking forward to experimenting with more flavors.

    Best ice cream ever!
