About this product

Product Information

The Bluth family returns for another season of life after credit cards, in this revolutionary award-winning comedy. Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) is the voice of reason in the midst of a blue-blood clan of crazies who have become acclimated to the life of luxury after patriarch George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) earned a fortune in the tract-housing business. When George is arrested on charges of tax fraud, however, the family's assets are frozen, and the resulting life of relative poverty proves difficult in many unexpected ways. Matriarch Lucille (Jessica Walter) is an emotionally stunted alcoholic, who in season two hires a bounty hunter to find George Sr., who has run off to Mexico--maybe. The Bluth siblings include Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), a socialite whose multitude of causes serves to further her own social career; Gob (Will Arnett), a womanizing illusionist; and Buster, a mama's boy who spends his time pursuing a nebulous career as a grad student. Lindsay is married to Tobias (David Cross), an out-of-work actor and former doctor whose sexuality remains undefined. Michael, in addition to tending to the foibles of his siblings, spends much of his time trying to be a good dad to his earnest 14-year-old son, George Michael (Michael Cera). This collection contains all the episodes from the third season.

  • How Could This Show Have Been Cancelled?

Arrested Development stands with Seinfeld and 30 Rock as one of my favorite television sitcoms ever. This show is tremendously humorous and creative throughout every episode. Not only is the writing brilliant and hilarious, but the cast ranks up there as one of the best ever assembled, at least in my opinion. One of the things I like so much about Arrested Development is the relationship between Buster and his mother, Lucille. Buster, as the youngest of the 4 Bluth children, has been pampered by his mother his entire life and has the dysfunctional personality to prove it. I love this show's family humor and how everyone relates to one another. Gob is the goofy "illusionist" who's always doing something crazy. Buster is the mama's boy who dates one of his mother's friends and wants to know ...

  • A family that's a little too close.

Although the shortness of the season (only 13 episodes) made me feel a little cheated, this is my favorite season out of the three hilarious seasons. The show pokes fun at it's desperate struggle to stay on the air in the episode S.O.B. (Save our Bluths) I loved the episodes with Rita (Charlize Theron)and how no one realizes that she is mentally challenged because she is beautiful and has a british accent (and if you have a British accent, you just have to be smart..). My favorite episode is Notapusy. The whole premise of the Church and state fair, and the confusion between the two "scared straight" programs was hilarious. It was such a funny moment, when George Sr. thinking he was in the state sponsored "scared straight" tent, stood up and asked his audience, "You wanna be some guy's ...

  • A gem out of the few smart comedies out there!

This show is by far the best comical series I have seen out in awhile, while most shows thrive own cheaps laughs and stupid, repetitive antics. Arrested development is about a dysfunctional family held together by Michael Bluth, son of George Bluth Sr.(owner of the Bluth company). He tries his hardest to bring the family together as his father gets put into jail and also takes cares of his twin sister(her husband & daughter), two brothers, and wino of a mother. Season 3 is the best of all seasons with its interconnecting, twistedly funny plots through out the whole season which is sure to cause a laugh riot. Though unexpectedly the series ended with only three seasons under its belt do to low ratings. I still think with the right audience and a better, smarter network that the show would ...

  • An extremely funny show with bad luck.

Arrested Development was an amazing show. I think that the fact that the show was almost obviously going to be cancelled the third season had both a positive and a negative effect on certain aspects of the last 13 episodes of the series. On the negative side, there was a lot of story crammed into episodes and the pace seemed a little off. This was no fault of theirs, however, since they had to fit an entire season into half of that time. It is nothing horribly detrimental either, but it is still a mentionable problem. On the positive side, however, the cancellation let the show pretty much do whatever it wanted to do, which was a great help. The people of the show really knew who their fans were and the last few episodes catered almost exclusively to inside jokes and references to the ...

  • Best in Class

This comedy series, which will probably go down in history as one of television's higher achievements, also had one of the most unfortunate time slots. Pitted against The Sopranos - the high point of television dramas - Arrested Development was never seen by what would have been a loyal and captive following. Their audience - all the people who hate the banality of what passes as comedy in brainless situation series, or the mind-numbing reality shows, or the endless parade of police/detective/investigation shows with the same name - would have feasted on this original production. But these were the same people who were in front of their televisions only on Sunday night, and had the 2 best offerings on at the same time. With The Sopranos' head start and Arrested Development's lack of ...
