    The bluesy side of Van

This is one of my favorite Van Morrison cd's. This is a great side of him I have never heard before. He also performs some of his older hits with a blues twist.

The opening track "Too Long In Exile" sets the tone for the cd and is Van Morrison at his best. Candy Dulfur's sax adds just the right touch as she does to his "Ball And Chain." Being a blues fan, I was happy to see that genre covered by Van Morrision. His "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" had a nice groove laid down by Nicky Scott. I was surprised to hear Georgia Fame on the organ. But my absolute favorite on the cd was Van Morrison's teaming up with John Lee Hooker for a dynamite version of "Gloria." It was just so natural hearing too legends trade licks and vocals and to me it was the best version of ...
