  • Thoughts on Henry Hill's account

I love the Goodfellas movie, then read the book. comparing the interviews of the late Henry Hill to his accounts in the book, I would say that either his foggy recollections are wring or he lied a lot. he said that he paid to remodel his in-laws upstairs to turn it into an apartment, but in the same book, Karen said her parents paid for it. I think he exaggerated some for the book, except where Karen knew better. a compelling story no less, but I will always think he still lied plenty, namely because John Gotti was alive at the time, and closely connected along with others.

  • Wise Guy Book review

Every since I was born, my mom has loved the Goodfellas movie. I could never understand why she would always watch it. (Stabbing a guy in the first scene- ewwww) It wasn't until i was 16 did I actually sit down and watch the movie. After I fell in love with the movie, I decided to read the book. For once, the movie didn't ruin the book, they are equally fun to watch and read. Now for a review on the book, I like the way it was written. I like how it changes view points from characters. But it does make me wonder if the author of the book actual found the other people that said their point of view (Karen and Linda) in the book and interviewed them like he did with Henry, or if he just picked them up from details that Henry gave. (I don't recall if the author ever mentioned it) The only ...

  • loved it

I bought this book because I love to read memoirs especially about the mafia. As i was reading the story seemed familiar, somehow I already knew what was going to happen. Then it came to me, the movie Goodfellas is based on the book. Of course the book goes into greater detail than the motion picture but if you enjoyed the movie you will love the book.
