An awesome book for young minds - Be Content!
I would read this to my (then) 4-year old son, who is now 26. It's a nice story teaching a child that the grass isn't always greener and that someone in worse straits may wish to be you. If your child is a train nut like mine, the graphics are awesome. It lends itself to great storytelling and chance to use several voices to bring it to life. Just remember: "The engine up front always wore a big smile..."! I would read this to my (then) 4-year old son, who is now 26. It's a nice story teaching a child that the grass isn't always greener and that someone in worse straits may wish to be you. If your child is a train nut like mine, the graphics are awesome. The Caboose Who Got Loose
I just love this book. As a teacher, librarian, and Mom, this is one my personal favorites. Bill Peet did a great job.... The story rhymes and reads like a Dr. Seuss. The illustrations are very detailed. Katy gets tired of always being at the end of the train and longs for a quiet place in the woods. She learns to appreciate her place in life when she meets someone stuck in the train yard, but in the end, she gets what she wants. Love it! Juli P. (00byfaith00)I just love this book. Great addition to your books at home!
My son loves trains and one day we found this book at the library, brought it home and read it! At Christmas time, he mentioned that he would like to have Santa bring him this book - I went on E-bay and found it for a GREAT deal and knew that my son would be completely excited to open it Christmas morning and I was right. The gift of a book is one of the best ones that I can think of. If you have never read a Bill Peet book - you should, they are absolutely wonderful books for your kids!My son loves trains and one day we found this book at the library, brought it home and read it!
