Great grips, controller is not waterproof, fails in heavy rain
I loved the grips - larger diameter, very comfortable for long distance touring. The controller is the weak link. I had to replace the first controller less than a year after installation, and now the second one has stopped working in less than 6 months. The controller issue is that they are not waterproof. Both controllers flooded out in heavy rains as travelling. The first time, the controller simply stopped working. In the second instance, it would come on by itself on high. I had to shut down the bike to reset the controller, and intermittently it would either go back on or stay off. I now have an issue trying to replace the defective controller since they have become virtually unobtainable.I loved the grips - larger diameter, very comfortable for long distance touring. Easy to install
Grips are the same size as the factory 04 Gl1800. Was able to cut out end to reinstall factory weighted ends. They do look factory and work as intended. Only negative for me was the controller. It looks out of place on the bike (black everything and this controller is chrome). I prefer a factory looking bike and or at least the illusion of being factory. Wanted grips with controls built into grip, but no one makes them 5 3/4 long to fit the goldwing. For the money these work and i will paint the controller black to blend it in.
