    The Journeymen stand out in a crowd of many with their well-polished vocals, inovative instrumentals, and varied selection of songs. They follow in the footsteps of the Kingston Trio, bringing folk music to the peak of popularity from 1961 thru 1963. This debut album includes two John Phillips original songs, (RIDE, RIDE, RIDE and SOFT BLOW THE SUMMER WINDS), as well as their version of popular folk songs FENNARIO, 500 MILES, AND GILGARA MOUNTAIN, a whimsical rendition of CUMBERLAND MOUNTAIN DEER CHASE, and rousing Negro Spiritual ROCK ME LORD. Rounding out the album are new harmonies for Ledbelly's BLACK GIRL and New Orleans jazz favorite MAKE ME A PALLET.     A great folk trio that carried this type of music to a new level-- just before it died out almost completely, except for nostalgia. Lots of energy, wonderful imaginative harmonies, and humor. The Kingston Trio started it all, and the Journeymen finished it. Great fun.
