Great action film combining science fiction with murder.

James Belushi (AKA Jim Belushi) is a man with a violent temper who does not think twice before killing someone in "Retroactive," a science fiction film with murder tossed in for excitement. The movie has plenty of action and fast cars all the way up to a thrilling final scene. Put the kids to bed first because the movie is rated "R" for adult language and violence.

  • Good action/adventure time travel film

There were many good things about this film, particularly James Belushi's performance. Who would have thought the usually-likable actor could convincingly play a murderous, psychotic jerk? The female lead, after seeing Belushi's character kill his wife, flees from him and stumbles into a research facility where a scientist has invented a time travel device. She goes back in time to try and remedy the situation. Unfortunately, with each attempt, the body count rises. I had a bit of a problem with her character: her "solutions" were always aggressive and violent, which would have been fine if she were a beat cop or a drill sergeant (it's always fun to see a woman kick, beat, choke, and shoot a murderous man); but according to her backstory she was a psychiatrist and hostage negotiator. ...

  • Go Back and Fix It.

A woman is having a bad day with her car breaking down, she enters a research facility in the middle of the desert. While talking with the scientist in charge she is send back in time a short distance and relives recent events. Each time through she trys to figure the best way to fix the day. It is an interesting movie. I rented it and was surprised on how go it was. I later saw it in the cheap ben on a department store. It is worth seeing. James Belushi plays a very different character from his norm. The repeating time segment has been used a few times now. There is an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that does it and of course Groundhog Day is a another but this has a device envolved.

  • Jim Belushi's darkside!

This movie show cases a Jim Belushi you have never seen before. Not the jovial, friendly, funny, smartass goofball of the movies. This is the darkside of "According to Jim" character that you come to despise very early on. Kylie Travis is excellent as his female foil attempting to restore the disrupted timeline caused by her initial appearance/interference. But each time she goes back ,even with her foreknowledge of events, the results are a higher body count and greater mayhem. The action is fast paced and realistic which is one of the factors that has elevated this movie to minor cult status . There are certain plot gaps concerning the time travel scenario that can be overlooked as the pacing keeps you moving past certain stretches of the story. When the timeline is restored and ...

  • better than most time travel tales

More than a few loose ends, this movie still plunges directly into the story and makes sense of what happens-- things start "bad" and get "worse" as the protagonist tries to fix the past, and the final resolution is not magic, just the best the story allows. That means it makes more sense, is better and more logical than 99% of the movies released today, and requires some thought. It's worth the trip. .
