Uplifting story
I loved seeing this movie after reading the book I thought it was a great depiction of it. The Love and companionship of Mary lifted Colin from an invalid to a thriving little boy and transformed her life as well.

This is a most enjoyable film about a spoiled ten year old little rich girl living in India who's parents are suddenly killed and she is sent to live with her wealthy uncle in England. When Mary Lennox (Kate Maberly) arrives, her life drastically changes. The home is the mysterious manor of Lord Archibald Craven (John Lynch) and his invalid son, Colin (Heydon Prowse). Lord Craven is a miserable recluse since the death of his wife who died in childbirth when Colin was born. He ignores his son (Blaming him for her death) and leaves him and the rest of the estate to the household management of Mrs. Medlock (Maggie Smith). She runs the place with a cruel, iron hand. When Mary proves to be more than a handful, she is instantly treated more like a prisoner than family. Befriended by a young ... In here Mary finds a mysterious key, and her picture. She and Mary's mother had been twins. The key was to the iron door to the secret garden. Colin has been treated like an invalid since birth, but there is apparently nothing wrong with him. Through Mary's prodding, Colin is able to make tremendous progress, and is soon standing and walking. The miserable Mrs Medlock fears losing her position, and tries to keep Colin bedridden, and Mary completely away from him. Mary is persistent, and Colin continues to learn to be a child. When his father is finally alerted by Mary to his progress, the sunlight of Spring is finally able to enter their lives.

I love this Children's story that has been made into a movie. In fact, I love just about all versions of it made. It touches the little child within me♥
