It's a really good book. I like this author a lot, and if you liked this book you'll probably like his other stuff. A light social commentary about the varying aspects of godzilla fighting various giant monsters throughout the coastal regions of Japan. As well as the involved human aspects of the battles, he also enlighted us as to the more human traits of the monster known as godzilla. The author also utilized elements of light and dark in the main plot of the story to represent the duality of human nature as it conflicts with the character's nobler aspects as well as their relationships with other characters. There's also a car chase. (disclaimer: the contents of this book may or may not contain anything to do with japan, godzilla, giant non-godzilla monsters, elements of light and dark, ... This is a simple love story, with an uncomplicated plot and likable characters. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the small European towns they traveled through and visited.
