    Get Kinky!

    There are a few different versions of this CD. I like this one because it has "Catch Me Now I'm Falling." Sadly, it doesn't have "Celluloid Heroes," plus a few of the songs are mediocre. However, most of it is really good. "Do It Again," "Better Things" and "Living on a Thin Line" are all excellent songs. I recommend this!

    Yeah, Come Dancing!

    "Come dancing with The Kinks" is an excellent 'best of' for the later years, when The Kinks majored in rock, with modern guitar distortion. Earlier covers from later live albums are great: 'You Really Got Me', and 'Lola'. 'Destroyer', 'Superman', 'Juke Box Music', 'Rock and Roll Fantasy', and 'Father Christmas' are standouts, along with 'Come Dancing' and 'Do it Again'. If you like great melodies, a lot of wit, and social commentary that never gets too heavy-handed, delivered by a singing voice as alternately tough and gritty/honest and open as Ray Davies', you'll be pleased with this collection. The weakest song is probably the last: 'Celluloid Heroes', although an excellent song, it suffers from a clunky live arrangement (drums going crash/bash on the 2/4 beats, which is obnoxious). ...

    Call it the Best of the Kinks mid 70's till ?

    This album is THE album to introduce to anybody who has a question about the Kinks. The live versions of Lola and You Really Got Me are really good live recordings that brought those songs to new listeners in the late 70's and 80's. Throw in Low Budget, Superman, Do It Again, Living On A Thin Line, Destroyer, and the funny (now traditional) Father Christmas. This is also one of the few albums you can listen to from start to finish. (Also was delivered in 2 days after ordering.)
