    Great for close-up field reporting applications, cancels background noise.

    Pretty good mic, used it in the field as a radio reporter, it was provided by the news agency as a "higher-end" piece of equipment. Model RE50B features a built-in noise-canceling quality, so if you stick it in someone's face, the background sounds won't come out, results are similar to a studio setting. Great for those special moments when people nearby won't shut up. One time I was interviewing a base commander on an air force runway, with a C-5a cargo jet engine blaring not more than 20 feet away. Voice came out usable for broadcast despite deafening ambient interference. For medium distances, you want to use a recorder with automatic gain control. Otherwise, for strictly close-up use.

    These have been around since "60 Minutes"

    They hide background noise pretty good. Sound is always good. Standard equipment since 1980 for tv stations, news networks, musicians and any company that records audio for video and film. Comes in silver as well. Highly recommend. Its has been used & still being utilized by journalists during hurricanes, revolutions, riots, blizzards, sports reporting, radio broadcasting, you name it.

    Industry standard...for a reason

    This mic handles terrifically and sounds exactly like it should. I wish it was about 3/4" longer, because with the mic flag on, it feels a little short. Classic sound and construction
