Bought this 1400 Intruder a few months ago, and am in the process of restoring it as it's now 20 years old and in need of a few things. Mufflers being one thing that may detract from the originality but these Cobras look mighty fine to replace the quiet stock pipes. They fit perfectly and look great but miss the look of the stock mufflers as they are much bigger and wish the cobras were a bit more stock looking, but that's my choice and the sound is the main event. I also would have liked Cobra to have supplied a couple of band type chrome clamps to mount them as the stock clamps are welded to the old mufflers and buyers need a suitable clamp to use on these new mufflers. Haven't run them yet, but hear them on line with other you tube videos. Should be good. Pleased with the ... Unable to use factory clamps.
To start out this is a beautiful exhaust, but I've yet to hear it, even with it installed. You're suppose to use the factory clamps from the 96 intruder, the clamps got bent and broken taking it off. Their 21 years old. So when I used those clamps it sounded straight pipe, NOT what I wanted. Cobra would had been wise to actually send so decent clamps with it. I bought some clamps from a local auto store but these clamps just bent the end of the exhaust, so now I'm having to spend a extra $30 to buy some really good chrome clamps to look good plus so sealant to help seal the bend. Not happy about that. If I'm spending almost $300 I believe cobra should have supplied good clamps for THEIR exhaust. That's the reason for two stars. Great sound
Look nice, sound nice but fit was off, had to use a portable grinder to notch more tabs so they would actually fit on my stock head pipe, not sure if a gasket or something was needed, came with no clamps or anything, just the exhaust
