    If you love westerns this one is up your alley, yul Brennan and Steve McQueen are very good in this movie, if you collect like me it has to be in your collection.

    The Magnificent Seven

    Fed up with being brutalized and impoverished because of outlaw raids on their village by a merciless outlaw leader - played by Eli Wallach ( The Holiday, The Hunter, The Misfits, Genghis Khan, etc), the besieged citizens of a small Mexican town hire seven American gunslingers to stave off the marauders once and for all. Yul Brynner (Westworld, Catlou, Cast a Giant Shadow, The King and I, etc) leads the band of mercenaries which includes several other big stars of the time or of later years including Steven McQueen (Tom Horn, The Great Escape, Bullitt, The Sand Pebbles, etc); Charles Bronson (Breakheart Pass, Death Wish, Mr. Majestyk, The Mechanic, etc); James Coburn and Robert Vaughn.     A Classic Western Movie

    An enduring classic among classic westerns, The Magnificent Seven presents one of filmdom's coolest 'man in black' heroes in Yul Brynner along with his gang of soon-to-be movie stars including Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Charles Bronson as well as future 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.' Robert Vaughan. It's full of vintage tough guy posturing, plenty of chest thumpin' and shootin' as the heroes help the poor and downtrodden villagers defend themselves against a gang of swarthy ruffians led by Eli Wallach. The Collector's Edition DVD special features are numerous for the movie buff including behind-the-scenes photos and reminiscences by Eli Wallach and (then)surviving members of the Seven, Coburn and Vaughan, Brad Dexter and Horst Bucholz. A must-have for fans of the western genre.

    The Magnificent Seven

    For fans of westerns, this is a very good movie. For some reason, it has never struck me as great or as good as The Searchers, Shane or any of the other "Great Westerns". I find now, as when I first watched it years ago, Yul Byrnner miss-cast and too unbelievable. The other characters fit pretty good for their respective roles. Coburn quoted this film as his breakout film, but watch him in his first western(film), Ride Lonesome, and you will see his star potential a whole year earlier. I can watch this film every once in awhile, mostly to see Eli Wallach and Steve McQueen.

    This movie changed her life

    I met a woman named Renee who recommended I see this movie. Renee was a staunch supporter of the United States Constitution and she never knew how long she would have to work for her freedom. Renee spent three years of her life as a victim of the twentieth century’s first forced labor camp in Mexico City. After her escape, she moved to Los Angeles. It was here that she heard of The Magnificent Seven. Renee needed hope. And the promotional billboards for this classic film seemed to line almost every busy street in LA. This experience truly spoke to her. Renee decided it was time to procure a ticket to see this controversial film and happened to find herself sitting next to Steve McQueen himself in the movie theater. They laughed a little, but mainly due to Steve McQueen ...
