    The media & outside foreign interests try to elect American politicians!

    This drama, made in 1986 but extraordinarily current & relevant today, tells the story of how political campaigns are built by outside and highly paid consultants who take on clients--in this case running to be the governors of New Mexico & Ohio & Washington state--irregardless of their platforms or beliefs. And, yes, countries do hire political lobbyists in the US to get their preferred candidate who will support their foreign interests elected. It has terrific performances by Richard Gere, Denzel Washington, Julie Christie, and Gene Hackman with a supporting cast featuring E.G. Marshall, Beatrice Straight, and Fritz Weaver.
