Great Phone System - Replace the factory batteries
I have had this phone for over 2 years and all three of my handsets are still going strong. I purchased this phone based on the reviews and my past experience with Panasonic products. Everything about this phone is top-notch. Before this phone I had crap phones from V-Tech and AT&T and I sold those off after only having them for 2 or 3 months. The sound quality was just not there. These phones are almost perfect in every way. I love the built in phone book and being able to copy phone books between phones. I have two base stations and they both work great. One is just a Voice Mail notification base, Model KX-TG270S. What that means is that it will check your voicemail status if your voicemail service is with your phone company. You then just press the VM button on the phone or base to dial ... I have had this phone for over 2 years and all three of my handsets are still going strong. Survived a year in harsh New England weather on top of our car!!!!!
I have had this unit with 7 expandable hand sets in my home for personal and business use for almost 10 years!! It is still going strong. This is the best phone system I have ever owned. In fact, when we lived up north, we "lost" a handset for almost a year. My husband went to a full service car wash and the attendant came to him and said he found a phone wedged on top of his van in the luggage rack. It turns out, my husband was outside on the phone, left it on top of his van. It stayed there for almost a year! Through a New England winter, rain, sun. He brought it home and it looked wet inside from going through the car wash. I let it sit for a week to "dry out" then I put it on the charger. It charged!!! We are STILL using it to this day, and that has been almost 7 years ago. True ... I have had this unit with 7 expandable hand sets in my home for personal and business use for almost 10 years!! Panasonic marketed this phone system at Small Office / Home Office (SoHo) users, and they targeted the price and feature set at that market. They made a huge mistake in providing these phones with nickel cadmium batteries. At retail, we paid well nearly $1,000 for the base unit and all the extension phones intending for them to serve our SoHo needs, but we have abandoned using it for that purpose and will not sell it on eBay because it is not suitable for its intended use. Because they used nickel cadmium batteries, the cordless extensions would often indicate a nearly full battery life when ... Charge life using speaker phone is unpredictable best, often the phone would drop because the battery died with a full charge indicator. We replaced the NiCad battery packs a number of times on several of the extensions and the base cordless since they could only be charged so many times, but in the end we abandoned all of the extension units and the base unit now serves as a light-duty personal phone in the kitchen. If used as a light-duty general purpose cordless phone, this system works well. It has clean sound and good reception range, a decent digital answering machine with remote access, and a nice feature set. Because of the NiCad batteries, it was never appropriate for the SoHo market and it is a shame that Panasonic did not use battery technology appropriate for the intended market. Pros: • Nice feature set including call holding, call transfer, conference calling, and intercom • Simple, intuitive menus and displays • Decent answering machine feature with remote access and toll saver • Good quality sound without interference or static Cons: • Talk time is limited, especially when using speaker phone on remote handsets • Batteries die without warning and cut off calls even when the battery charge indicator showing available power • Batteries need to be replaced fairly often – limited recharge cycles.

I love the phone. The clarity of conversations is very good. The features of the phone include - volumn control so you can actually turn up the volume if someone is hard to hear/understand; talking caller id - phone tells you who is calling; and the ease of using and setting up the phone. The only problem I have is your directory. If you have duplicate phone numbers in your directory, there isn't a way to delete the second one, at least I haven't found a way to delete it yet.I love the phone.
