    Bummer...

    Can a situation drive good (albeit flawed) people towards wrong doing? This morality play asks you to ponder that very question. In this case, loneliness and pride drive the main characters through a battle over a home in the San Francisco Bay Area. My favorite aspect of the film is the fact that subtle actions, not dialog, deliver key points of exposition. Although well acted and riveting at times, House of Sand and Fog ultimately stumbles when the characters, portrayed so convincingly in the first half of the film, chose unbelievable courses of action (I don't want to give anything away). Definitely worth seeing if you're not counting on a feel good ending. As with any classic drama, hubris can have disastrous results.

    Quiet suspense with a twist you won’t see coming.

    It’s been a while since I watched this movie but if you like a well written suspense movie, you will probably enjoy this one. Great cast and they really play their characters well. Would recommend.

    Breaks All The Rules of Complete Bliss & Happiness

    I bought this movie because I saw the previews for it. I was wrong in what I thought it was about. This is a movie that breaks all the rules. No one wins on either side over a house & property. This is a story about a young woman who inherits a house, loses it & continually goes down hill from there. You will feel every frustration & emotion known to mankind. I rated it excellent because I watched it to the end just to see if there was a happy ending. I was shocked many times throughout the entire time. This is not a movie for children. In many ways, this is how society perceives other cultures without taking the time to understand that we are not of like mind. The acting is quite good for all of the actors. I only recommend it for those of you who are looking for a ...

    A ok movie with a good movie

    Watching this movie, it doesn't take long before you realize you're seeing an Oscar nomination in the making for Ben Kingsley. (At least; Tthe writer-director, Vadim Perelman, should also receive one or more.) For want of a nail, the horse was lost, and in this movie, for want of a house, dreams were lost. No one manages to escape unscathed, and ultimately, neither does anyone in the audience. Bring Kleenex, and gird yourself to be gut-punched when you realize that all the things we think are so very important don't ultimately matter.
